Town of Art and History

Do you want to know what towns looked like in Auvergne in the 15th century? The heart of Montluçon provides a life-sized example! The fully pedestrian medieval town-centre, crowned by the Dukes of Bourbon's castle, is a delightful hub of activity.

A 10-minute walk from our hotel, you can discover the town's treasures: the castle built during the Hundred Years' War by Louis II, Duke of Bourbon, the Saint-Pierre quarter with its timber framed houses, its church (12th century Romanesque building), its remarkable House of the Twelve Apostles, the Wilson Garden, a beautiful French formal garden established in 1937 in the gardens of private houses and opened by Marx Dormoy...

Culture-wise, there is no shortage of ideas or things to do in Montluçon! The Museum of Popular Music (MuPop), with its contemporary architecture, offers you a unique sensory experience immersed in the world of pop music, at the crossroads between sound and image. It is the first museum in France dedicated to the history and objects of popular French music from 1750 to today. Louvière castle, inspired by the Petit Trianon in Versailles, hosts temporary exhibitions.

Not forgetting the festivities. Two main events embody Montluçon's joie de vivre: the Boeuf Villé carnival in the spring and the medieval festival every two years. An exciting programme on the horizon !
